Christine has worked within the health industry since 1979, when she commenced her own business, incorporating the professions of Naturopathy, Health & Fitness.
Christine with her extensive experience and qualifications has seen this industry grow and change in the past 30 years.
Christine’s original career was in marine biology working as a professional diver and laboratory technician. It was in this working capacity that she consulted a Naturopath – Herbalist, to improve her general health so something as small as a cold, ear infection or being seasick would not inhibit her ability to work under water when required.
Christine’s contractual work included;
Teaching Snorkeling and Scuba Diving,
Teaching Fitness and Aerobics / Gym Instruction at various health clubs in Perth WA,
University of Western Australia, (centre for water research),
CSIRO Marine Science Laboratories,
Environmental companies - Dampier Archipelago, North West Shelf,
Mining Industry - the initial stage of the Woodside joint venture, gas pipeline project.
In 1980 Christine commenced study in Naturopathy, graduating in 1986. The rewards of adopting a naturopathic philosophy and combining this with work in the fitness industry overflowed into her recreational interests. These lifestyle changes allowed her to compete in two sports as an elite athlete in State, National and International competitions over a six year period 1979 – 1985.
Competing in the extreme sports of Spearfishing and Underwater Hockey she held the state, national and international titles and during this time she supported and trained other elite athletes to reach their best potential.
Studying Naturopathy, working part time in the fitness industry and working full time in marine science, her work, study and sport, just complimented each and it blended perfectly.
Christine synergistically combined Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine, Diving Instruction and Fitness giving her clients a total approach to health. Contract work continued with a highlight being her work with the Department of Sport and Recreation working at the over 55’s lifestyle camps, Rottnest, Esperence and the City teaching lifestyle and fitness classes. Christine has also conducted her own Aerobics, Fitness and Diving classes in various venues around Perth. Including - Perth City, East Perth, Subiaco, Leederville, Hillary’s, Sorrento, Karrinyup, Marmion, Whitfords, Claremont, Mosman Park, Fremantle and later, country town of Exmouth, Abrolhas Islands, Dampier Archipelago, Margaret River, Augusta, Kalgoorlie, Cervantes, Jurien Bay, Port Hedland and Hobart (Tasmania).
Initially when pregnant with her first child (1987) she had the unique position of living and working at a sport and recreation facility, the Ern Halliday & Recreation Camp - Hillary’s, where her love of babies, children and families was reflected in the safe, fun environment. Aerobic classes for mothers and baby were incorporated and a passion for working with the over 50’s fitness classes continued. Freestyle fitness, strength & fitness classes were conducted, and the result was flexible fun fitness classes for everyone.
Christine offered individual fitness programs and naturopathic consultation combined before the word ‘personal training’ was in vogue!
She also held regular workshops in Aromatherapy for Beauticians, Baby Massage for Mum’s, Fitness for Kids, as well as free workshops in Health & Fitness for the elderly community and schools as a way to promote community awareness.
In 1991 to 2006 Christine had a “SEA CHANGE” and moved from the city to bring up her family in the country. During this time Christine also lived and traveled to various towns of Western Australia including Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland, Broome, Jurien Bay & Cervantes which allowed her to continue practicing as a Health Practitioner.
She has a unique understanding of how important it is to offer quality professional services in the country and city, integrating orthodox medicine and natural therapies together. Within her practice she supports the development and success of other practitioners and health professionals ensuring a total approach to heath and wellbeing.
As a mother of five beautiful children, she has a unique understanding of what an exciting and enriching challenge it can be to raise a family in this modern 21st Century.
The dedication to health and lifestyle choices saw Christine have five homebirths and enjoy breastfeeding over a 14 year period, blending mothering, work, study & fitness into daily life.
Christine truly understands the needs of her clients and the importance of finding a good balance in their lives.
