Natural Fertility Management aims at education and improving all aspects of
reproductive health for both sexes.
In today’s modern society we are constantly coming in contact with toxins,
environmental pollutants, inorganic substances, synthetically modified food,
allopathic drugs, oral contraception, HRT and high levels of stress from work
and the rushed life most people seem to lead.
Many women have some problems with their fertility and hormonal health at one stage of their life.
Hormonal imbalances can plague women with a host of physical and emotional problems.
These are all contributing factors to infertility and hormonal imbalances such as abnormal menstrual
cycles, cervical erosion, endometriosis, poly ovarian cysts, ovarian cysts, fibroids, malabsorption
syndromes, obesity, high blood pressure, varicose veins, kidney or liver disease, high cholesterol and
triglycerides, eczema, acne, skin discolorations, fungal infections, systemic candida infection, genital
warts, urinary tract infections, nausea, allergic reactions like rhinitis, hay fever, asthma, skin rashes;
eye disorders, hair loss, facial and body hair growth, migraines, depression and anxiety to name a few.
A trained Natural Fertility Management Practitioner incorporates all aspects of naturopathic medicine to
improve the fertility of both sexes and to educate the woman on understanding her fertility cycle.

Preconception Health Care
There is a growing interest in the practice of pre conception care (PCC) which actually dates back to
ancient Greek and Roman times. They were very aware of avoiding alcohol around the time of
conception as it was damaging to the foetus. Some traditional societies also prepared special diets to
their young women and men of child bearing age. It is common knowledge that veterinarians, stock
breeders and farmers all practice preconception health care so now it is all about educating us to take
time to prepare for conception.
Studies by Foresight Association (promoting PCC in UK established in 1978) have demonstrated the
effectiveness of preconception health care with 89% of couples having given birth, where previously
81% presented as infertile. There were no miscarriages, no perinatal deaths; no baby was admitted
to special care and no malformations.
In 2003, Foresight completed a large study with 1,061 couples. The statistics from this showed
excellent outcomes. 78.4% conceived (leading to a healthy baby) within two years of following
the program. This study also suggests a more than doubled conception success rate for IVF of 47.1%
following preconception health care.

Why Preconception care?
If you are considering conceiving and planning for the most important and special life changing event, it
is important to consider the benefits of preconception care. There is a critical time of 4 months that is
needed to address the foundations of both male and female reproductive health.
Why? The formation of sperm can take up to 116 days and since ova are susceptible to damage for
about 100 days before ovulation, preconception health care for both partners needs to be in place for a
minimum period of four months immediately preceding any attempt to conceive. The instant that egg
and sperm combine, an irreversible blueprint is formed for the future development of that baby.
The health of the egg and sperm reflects health/toxicity of the environment in which they grow.
It is a very vulnerable time.
4 months is not a long time to plan for the creation of the beautiful healthy baby giving you the best
possible start and an opportunity to enjoy a happy healthy pregnancy!
